Customer Service - FAQ

1.    Where do you ship from?

Wholesale orders are shipped from our distribution center in Greensboro North Carolina. Container orders are shipped directly from the country of origin.

2.    What is your opening order?

To open an account with Toucan Trading, you will need to place a minimum order of $1,000.00 Opening orders under $1,000.00 are subject to a 10% surcharge.

3.    What is your minimum for reorders?

Toucan Trading does not have any minimum for reorders.

4.    When can I expect to receive my order?

Lead time can vary from 2 - 12 weeks depending on stock availability. Upon receiving your order we will send you an order acknowledgement with an estimated delivery date. Lead time on container orders is between 12 and 16 weeks.

5.    What are your Terms of Payment?

We accept payment by company check, Visa, MasterCard, American Express and wire transfer. Open Terms will only be extended to approved customers on reorders.

6.    How are your products made and what are they made from?

Our furniture is made predominately of solid mahogany. All timber is plantation grown, or recycled timber, with each piece of timber having it’s own characteristics of color and grain. An inherent feature of hand made products is that no two pieces are the same. You may occasionally notice slight variations in size and color.

We do not use any MDF, wood fiber boards or rainforest timber in our products. Our furniture is hand crafted and has an antique finish, complete with minor flaws, which should be viewed as a feature of originality

7.    How do you ship?

Depending on the size and delivery instructions on you order we will ship via Common Carrier, Specialized Furniture Carrier, UPS or a Blanket Wrapped Delivery service.

8.    Do you Drop Ship?

Yes. We can drop ship directly to your customer.

9.    Can you deliver to a Residential Address?

Yes. Residential freight surcharges will be applied to these orders.

10.    Can you do Custom work?

Yes. We can build custom pieces to your design, or we can customize a piece from our collection to your specifications. Call us with your specifications! You’ll be surprised just what we can do.

11.    Can I supply my own fabric?

Yes. Our upholstered items come standard in a neutral colored fabric, but we also offer a C.O.M. program. Please contact us regarding price and the yardage required for each item.

12.    What happens if my order arrives damaged?

Your order was inspected prior to shipping and packed to exceed the normal rigors of delivery.

It is the carrier’s responsibility to deliver the merchandise to the consignee without loss or damage.

It is the Consignee’s responsibility to inspect the shipment and note any damage on the driver’s copy of the delivery receipt. A notation such as “Carton Crushed” or “Pallet Missing” is sufficient to the filing of a claim. A signature on the delivery receipt without any notation is an acceptance by the consignee as “Received in Good Condition”, and will result in the denial of any claims made against the carrier for freight damage. In the event that loss or damage does occur to a shipment, please follow the following procedure. Failure to follow these instructions may result in your claim being denied.

1.   Make a detailed notation of the damage on the driver’s copy of the delivery receipt. If you are unable to inspect the shipment at the time of delivery but suspect concealed damage, a notation as “Carton Crushed” will suffice. By signing the delivery receipt without any notations you are accepting the shipment “Free & Clear” and therefore relinquishing the carrier from all responsibility.

2.   Immediately notify Toucan of the damage. Toucan will file a claim on your behalf.

3.   Do not discard any of the damaged items or the packaging until advised.

13.    How do I care for my Toucan furniture?

Dust regularly with a soft cloth. To renew the luster, use a quality wax or polish. For touch-ups use a matching Touch Up / Scratch Remover pen.

Clean up spills immediately and never place hot, cold or damp items directly on the furniture.

Do not place wood furniture directly in sunlight or next to heating vents as UV rays and heat may damage furniture.

14.    What is your Return Policy?

Returned items will not be accepted without preauthorization from Toucan Trading. You may obtain a “RA#”(return Authorization number) by contacting a Toucan customer service representative. Returned merchandise is subject to a 20% restocking fee. Cancellation of orders cannot be accepted after the merchandise has been shipped. Orders that are refused at time of delivery are subject to the 20% restocking fee and freight charges (delivery & return) associated with the shipment.
